The Square is a Chinese restaurant located in The Exchange Square in the Central district on Hong Kong Island. Although billed as a restaurant serving “Cantonese” style cuisine, some of the dishes have a decided Northern Chinese and fusion influence. All the food are supposed to be cooked without MSG (monosodium glutamate) as well, an almost ubiquitous ingredient found in most Chinese restaurant. They have been awarded 1 star in the recently published first ever Michelin Guide for Hong Kong and Macau.
The food served were all presented well, with quite creative cooking, different from many restaurants serving traditional Cantonese cuisine. I would totally agree with the 1 star Michelin rating, a well deserved star!
All the photos were shot with Canon EOS 5D Mark II and EF 50mm f/1.4 USM at ISO3200. The high ISO capability of the 5D Mark II allows unprecedented opportunity for food photography in many restaurants that are dimly lighted. Before the 5D Mark II, I would never have been able to shoot with this quality in a restaurant as dimly lighted as The Square. Just by looking at these photos, you would never know how dimly lighted the restaurant was. You can click on the individual images for a larger view.

Very nice pictures! The Canon 5D Mark II is definitely my dream camera! Can’t wait till the day that dream comes true! Oh and by the way would happen to know whether the black-dot issue for this camera was fixed or not? Thanks
