I went to Hokkaido last year during early Autumn. Since it was my first visit there, I took a longish 15 days to tour the island. Sapporo is the capital and largest city of Hokkaido and obviously the first stop of the trip. Compared to other large Japan cities like Tokyo and Osaka, Sapporo is obviously not as vibrant, but has a charm that the larger cities do not have.
I used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II as my primary camera for the trip and the lenses I took along were Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM, Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, Canon 135mm f/2 USM and Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM. I also took an Olympus Pen EP-1 as a back-up and secondary camera.
