Yeosu Expo 2012

Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea was held in Yeosu, South Korea which opened May 12, 2012 and ran until August 12, 2012. The theme of the Expo was “The Living Ocean and Coast” with subthemes of “Preservation and Sustainable Development of the Ocean and Coast,” “New Resources Technology,” and “Creative Marine Activities.”

The Expo 2012 Yeosu was the first-ever world fair held on water, it opened on May 12 in the southern coastal town of Yeosu, approximtely 455 kilometers south of Seoul. It was the second international fair hosted by Korea, after the Taejŏn Expo ’93.

The Yeosu Expo, among others, distinguishes itself from previous international fairs by being the first world fair to be held on the water. There were some event with the ocean theme but the Yeosu Eopo is the first to have the ocean as its venue. source : wikipedia.org

I went to the Expo last year. It was the first time I have been to a World Expo. I spent 3 days at the Expo. Unfortunately, the weather was not too good most of the time. In fact it was raining quite heavily some of the time. So I did not take too many outdoor shots. However, as all the exhibitions were indoor, so there were always photo opportunities.

The Yeosu Expo is considered as one of the smaller type of Expo, unlike the previous one in Shanghai. The good thing was that the total area was smaller and the walking between different part of the Expo was not as much. Also, the queues in general were shorter. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the stay there and it was a great experience.

All the photos were shot in RAW with Canon EOS 5D Mark III with Canon EF 16-36mm f/2.8L II USM and Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM. The RAW files were converted with Capture One Pro with further processing in Photoshop CS5 before final output to the web.
